Let's breathe
Living with asthma can be frustrating and frightening, particularly when that familiar sensation of not getting enough air leaves you wanting to breathe harder, only to make you feel worse. This response can become a vicious cycle and even change your everyday breathing, making asthma worse. In this self-paced course, I'll introduce you to the principles of the Buteyko Breathing Method and explore the relationship between asthma, breathing patterns and the role of carbon dioxide. You'll learn how everyday habits such as mouth breathing, over-breathing and breathing volume may influence your symptoms, and why developing a lighter, slower and more functional breathing pattern is worth exploring to work towards a higher quality of life with easier breathing. We'll work through practical breathing exercises, including techniques you can use when chest tightness arises, alongside breathing retraining strategies to reset your everyday breathing in oder to reduce symptoms overall. Whether you've lived with asthma for years, have recently been diagnosed or experience symptoms during exercise, this course will give you a fresh perspective on your breathing and practical tools to support your asthma management. It's my strong opinion that every asthmatic needs to learn this method, either when they're first prescribed an inhaler or at the first signs of asthma symptoms. Less chest tightness, less wheezing, more confidence, better breathing.
